Gyotaku Original
Gyotaku (魚拓) (gyo "fish" and taku "to rub") is a traditional artistic method originating in Japan that dates back to the mid-1800s. This form of natural printing was used by fishermen who wanted to keep track of their best catches, but it also became an art form. It is printed with squid ink, so that it can be easily washed and eaten.
When the creation of gyotakus began, there was that illusion of what one creates with their own hands. And we wanted to frame several of the works, which we call “originals” -which is the original print with squid ink. We take about 3 or 4 impressions and select the one we like the most to print on the products from there. These original prints began to attract attention among customers since it is for the fishermen, as a trophy, a souvenir of fishing, a pride of their experience in la fishing. We offer these original prints to be able to frame, hang, enjoy and admire.
